Some say that nations with lots of military hardware and weapons are afraid of Peace. Folks say this because it is through “fear” that they are able to get their way more often than not during political negotiations, as other nations don’t dare wish to cross them in a potential political impasse, because in the event of a war, the intimidated nation would lose. Therefore those with big militaries appear to be bullies, and they often use their size and strength to their advantage in their negotiations – or so it is said.
Many smaller nations, many of which act like children at the United Nations conferences, make this accusation against the United States of America. Of course most children in most families don’t want to do everything that their parents tell them either. This is understandable, because children want everything right now, and they don’t like to be told no, in fact, I doubt anyone really likes someone to tell them “NO” when they make a request of something they want.
These smaller emerging nation-states are no different. Not long ago, a misguided college student made the statement that the United States was afraid of Peace, and that they had become masters of war. This is utter nonsense, and the United States has done more to promote peace, humanitarian efforts, and human rights around the globe than any other nation ever in the history of mankind.
In fact, I often wonder why we don’t have a Department of Peace, because we are already spending hundreds of billions of dollars a year around the globe promoting such things. Indeed, after listening to the academic indoctrination and rhetoric from the college student I made a statement on behalf of my country; “I am not afraid of Peace, but I am wise enough not to seek or succumb to Weakness!”
